Homemade Pizza!

Ok, so we didn't make the pizza completely from scratch because that would have taken MUCH longer. We bought ready made dough at Fresh & Easy as well as all the other toppings we wanted to add on our pizzas. I got to do this fun dinner experience with Mike, Rob and Conrad! Hope you enjoy and if you find time, try it out too! It is pretty easy and I'm sure a blast especially with kids!
For the ingredients, we used:

-pizza dough
-pizza sauce
-bacon
-apple sausage
-mushrooms
-brie
-mozzarella cheese
-pears
-pepperoni
-flour

We cooked the meet halfway so that they wouldnt be undercooked when they came out of the oven. Bacon should be cooked a while if you dont want to get sick! We also heated up some wings because they go oh so well with pizza!

We covered the table with plastic since we needed flower to work with our dough.

Here we are making our own creations! Conrad looks so silly in this picture! I promise you that is not his normal smile!

We put our pizzas in for about 8 minutes! It was pretty quick and simple!

Our finished product! The first two are Conrad(top) and Rob's (bottom). I dont know why the picture came out so blurry, so I apologize!

This is a picture of the pizzas that Mike (top) and I (bottom) made.

It was kind of funny because all the boys ended up using the same ingredients, but all their pizza's turned out differently. My pizza was a brie and pear pizza with mushrooms and bacon. All in all, it was a really fun night to make dinner together! For dessert, we topped it off with some funnel cake! For a link to the recipe, go to allrecipes. I actually added a bit of vanilla extract to the mix as well!

I hope you liked this post! Try it out! It was simple and a fun night to spend with friends and family!

Hamburger Cupcakes

Hamburger cupcakes! Aren't they cute? Mike and I made fun cupcakes for my brother in law (Conrad) to take to work! They're pretty easy - but takes a bit of time since you have to make so many different colors. I got this wonderful idea from ohcupcakes. These are red velvet cupcakes with white chocolate cream cheese frosting! For the recipes check out foodnetwork and kraftrecipes. For the red velvet cupcakes, I actually put 3/4 cup of oil instead of 11/2 so the cupcake isnt so oily! Try it out!

Dr. Seuss

For those of you who have read my previous posts know that I am very inspired by Dr. Seuss. There is something about his quarkiness that is just alluring. A few weeks ago I passed by the Sarah Bain Gallery in Brea. The entire gallery was filled with reproductions of Dr. Seuss' early work.I especially loved this one and it inspired me to create my own with the same tone as Dr. Seuss himself. Isn't he just amazing? The work speaks a story for itself. There are so many scenes going on, yet they all flow together.

So here is what I drew!

Here are a couple of photos of his other masterpieces.

I even got to take a photo with the Cat in the Hat! Here is also a quote I just love! I hope it inspires and moves you, the way it did me.

Personalized Hanger II

I took another stab at making personalized hangers. This one is for my friend Diana, who is getting married in June! The sash for the dress is by handmade by sarakim who also took my photos! I changed the color for this one. I got a lighter wood, and the wire is silver instead of black. I hope you enjoy it! If you are interested in purchasing, shoot me an email at sillyhammy@gmail.com.

Lace Cake Stand

I decided that I wanted to try making some dishware, so I began with adding some lace to a cake stand. Hopefully in the future, I can elaborate on this idea!

Til our next Hello,

Mr. & Mrs. Gonzalez

This past weekend, Mike and I went to see one of my good friends get married! They are now Mr. & Mrs. Alisher Gonzalez! They are high school sweet hearts and have finally tied the knot! It was such a blessing to be a part of their life's decision to unite as one before God. Here are some photos I took of their special day! They got married on April 15, 2012 at Pudding Stone Resort.

Don't they just look absolutely amazing? There were so many beautiful spots with greenery and a view of the world below! Mike and I had fun taking photos of ourselves as well!

handmade wine corks

I've been trying to think of creative ways to made wine corks, and this came to mind. I love flowers, so why not adorn wine cork stoppers with them? Sara is starting to help me fall in love with a light orange color. I've always enjoyed watching cake decorating shows that embellish their cakes with realistic flowers. Maybe I'll be pro one day, but here we go for starters. Enjoy!

DIY: Light Box

Here's a great 'Do it Yourself' project to produce awesome lighting for pictures. This is called a light box. I first got this idea from ninthandbird and decided to try it out myself! I really like this idea, because I needed to find a way to take better photos for my crafts! I hope my readers can find it useful as well! I'm just starting out, so I'll have to give myself time to get better as we go. To start this project you'll need:

-Tape
-Exacto Knife
-Ruler
-White fabric (Muslin)
- Cutting Board
-Two science boards (Tri-fold)
-Pen

Step Two:
- On the first science board, draw one inch boarders in the middle fold
- Draw two inch boarders on the side folds.
-On the second science board, only draw two inch borders on the side folds.

Step Three: Cut your borders out!
- Your first science board should look the same as the picture above!
- Your second science board should look like the photo in (Step Three) without cutting the middle   section.

Step Four:
- Tape the two pieces together to form a box.

Here's a picture I took using the photo light box! The picture was taken with just a normal point and shoot camera. You may be wondering who made the hairpiece? Handmadebysarakim made it for my birthday last year! Isn't it beautiful?

I hope you found this DIY delightful! Have a wonderful week everyone!

Liquid Light Installations

I came across an amazing  artist the other day. It has inspired me to create more art like this! The artist is Tanya Clarke and her work is called Liquid Light Industrial Light Installations. I love  that her work freezes time and allows viewers to appreciate the moment. Pictures can do that. Paintings can do that. It was nice to see liquid do it. Great job Ms. Tanya Clarke! What is even more awesome is the intent behind Tanya Clarke's design = water conservation! These installations are created from recycled glass, reused hardware and LED lights. A portion of all purchases goes to the Polaris Institute. The institute gives education and action to global water issues.

Three Languages

This past Easter was great. Mike, Rob (Mike's brother) and I took their (Mike & Rob's) parents to church today. Since their native language is Thai, we decided to take them to a Thai church called Sila in Bellflower. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect but two hours of of foreign language since I don't speak Thai at all. (I'm Korean!) To my surprise there was a translator. But what made this specific service special to me was that  the Pastor who delivered the sermon was a Korean missionary from Thailand.

First of all, I haven't been exposed to that many Thai people because there isn't a huge population of them in Southern California. The only two families that I know who are Thai, are my boyfriend's (Mike) and my brother-in-law (Conrad). In addition, I don't really see Thai and Koreans associating which each other that much. I feel like for the most part in older generations, ethnic groups tend to stay together rather than mix, unless of course they are very Americanized. So to me, having Koreans and Thai people in one church service where both are strongest in their native language is extremely rare - and I had the wonderful opportunity to experience it this past Sunday.

During the service, Pastor Kim gave us each a piece of paper that had a verse written on it. It was written in three languages: English, Thai, and Korean. He explained that it does not matter what language we speak, who we are, or what we've done. Jesus came to save us, and whoever believes will have eternal life.

I don't know why it struck me so hard. If you take a step back, its just the same verse in three different languages. But at that moment, I really felt God telling me and showing me that he has a plan bigger than what I know. I had been struggling because I was being impatient. I wanted God to hurry and bring Mike's parents to Christ. I want them to experience the love of my Savior and get a glimpse of the grace that he has given us. I had been feeling the disconnect between the two cultures, and not knowing how to combine the two. I speak English, my parents speak Korean, and Mike's parents speak Thai. How can I translate the good news of Christ to them? How could I make them understand? It was here that God was telling me, "Stop worrying! I have a plan."

Lacey Wine Glass

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you are having a blessed weekend with all your friends and family! Today I wanted to showcase something I had been working on for a couple weeks. It did not take weeks to create this particular wine glass, it just took me some time to find a design that would give the piece a touch of grace. I really have to give credit to anyone who draw lace free hand and make it look elegant. For the most part on my research on youtube and other websites, its usually old, cute, grandmas and grandpas! Oh the wealth of knowledge they have. It makes me think about the olden days, when a master would pick an apprentice and teach them the lifelong skills of a specific trade! Anyway, I hope you like this, because I do! A special thanks to Sara for the photos!

I think I'll do some more experimenting in this department. It was so much fun!

Handmade by Sara Kim

I have a friend who I talk about from time to time on my blog. She is the one who is always helping me take pictures of my creations. She's actually the friend who pushes me to think outside the box and was the one who helped me start my own blog! Since I talk about her so much, you might as well get introduced and know what she does! Sara and I met in college at UC Riverside and served together at a Christian campus club called KCM (Korean American Campus Mission). These are pictures of us way back in college.

Sara has her own site called handmadebysarakim. She makes anything from bow to hairpieces to fabric bouquets! I am honestly astounded every time she comes up with something new! Here are a couple of pictures of the things I am absolutely in love with!

Can you tell I love flowers? One of things that Sara does with her company is give a percentage back from what she makes to other organizations who need help. For the month of April she selling a hair piece called  "The Soloist". This month 100% of the proceeds for this hair piece will go to a child in need through globalgiving. For more information about the hair piece click here.

One thing that is just absolutely amazing about Sara is how she always directs me back to why we do what we do. The purpose of her company is not solely to make money. No, instead it is an opportunity to share the Love of Christ with others and give back to those who need it. I think in the craziness of the Mega Millions, I got lost in an unrealistic chance of winning lots of money. I thought too seriously of what I'd do with it and how it would make my life so much easier. Sara reminded me that life is not about having all the money in the world. If anything, it could be a curse, straying you away from the important things in life. Besides, I've already won the lottery - the eternal love and sacrifice of Christ.

I hope that Sara not only inspires you to purchase this hairpiece, but also to do good in this world. There are a lot of hurting people who just want to be loved. Lets love them today!
